With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life fully lived, we share the passing of  Martin B. “Pinkie” Pinckney Jr. Pinkie passed away peacefully at Cornerstone’s Mariposa Hospice House in The Villages, Florida, following a long bout with cancer. He was surrounded  by his friends and family on Sunday, September 27, 2026. 

Pinkie attended Mercer University and the University of Georgia, later building a career  as both a pharmacist and an entrepreneur. Originally from Warner Robins, Georgia, Pinkie continued to live there for many years and was very active in the local community. He owned  and operated Pinckney Pharmacy in Warner Robins, as well as several other pharmacies located throughout Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Pinkie was a true entrepreneur, also investing in several other local endeavors, including automobile dealerships, a bowling alley, a nursing home, and commercial and retail real estate, to name a few. 

Pinkie remained in Warner Robins while raising his family, but later moved to Atlanta,  Georgia, and Park City, Utah, where he continued to work part-time for both CVS and Rite Aid Drug Stores to supplement his active retirement years. Pinkie spent his summers house boating and jet skiing around Lake Allatoona near Atlanta and winters skiing the black-diamond  slopes of the western mountains while also making a home in Park City and Deer Valley, Utah. Pinkie later retired to The Villages, Florida, where he spent his time immersed in local sports. He was an avid golfer, with a typical day also including biking, pickleball, and enjoying all of the many pursuits of local retirees. His curiosity, ambition, and willingness to embrace new opportunities stayed with him throughout his life. 

He was a loving husband, a devoted father and stepfather, and a cherished friend to  many. He was predeceased by his parents, Martin B. and Marguerite Pinckney, and is survived by his wife, Alice; his son, Martin B. Pinckney III (Kimberly); his daughter, Elissa Ellison (Johnny); and his stepdaughters, Kristin Ribley (Dan) and Whitney Smith (Scott). He was also a  grandfather to eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and is survived by his brother, Freddie. 

For all his adventures and accomplishments, Pinkie will be remembered most for the  way he made people feel. He had a gift for making others feel welcome, valued, and special.  He looked for the good in people and brought kindness, humor, and warmth to those around him. Being in his company was a joy. His love, laughter, and zest for life will remain with those who knew and loved him. 

Pinkie’s life was rooted in faith, family, and a love of living. As his life drew to a close, he  was at peace, grateful for the years he had been given and hopeful about what lay ahead. He believed the answer to everything was simple: just love. During his last days, Pinkie said, “I am at peace with what is happening and excited about what is coming.” 

What a special guy. He will be sorely missed.
