George E. Benoit died of a brief illness on 13 August 2026 at his home in Oak Run Country Club, Ocala, FL. George received hospice care at home and was surrounded with love from his wife Patt, family, and friends.

George was born on August 12, 1948 in Shelburne, Vermont to the late Veronica and Leon Benoit. He served in the U.S. Army and active Army Reserves for four years. George earned a business degree from Champlain College and worked in business management.

George met the love of his life, Patt, on a blind date. George and Patt Knowles married in 1980 and celebrated 45 years of marriage on Sept 20, 2025. George is survived by Patt and their children Travis and Carolyn Benoit and their son Jack, Mary Elizabeth and Dana Leahy, and Spencer and Kimberly Anna Benoit. George is predeceased by his sister Carol Lee Muniz and brother John Benoit.

George loved history, travel, and fishing. He appreciated the history of Western Civilization and saw that history in his travel to Greece, Rome, and the islands of the Mediterranean Sea. He also enjoyed journeys to Alaska, Bermuda, and Ireland.

Family meant the world to him.  His favorite memories recalled beach days at Old Silver on Cape Cod and fishing with his children along the New Hampshire coast.

George loved God and worshiped at Ocala West Church of the Nazarene and at Emmanuel Church in Rochester, NH.  Family and friends cherish his kind and tender soul. We smile remembering his gentle laugh.

Service will be at Ocala West Church of the Nazarene on a date that will be shared later.
